Cornish Pasties

4 oz. of lean raw steak
2 oz. of finely sliced raw potato
1/2 a small onion
1 tablespoon of gravy
Pepper and salt
short crust pastry

1. Prepare moderately hot oven (420)
2. Prepare the pastry
3. Wash and dry the meat and remove any skin, gristle or fat. Cut into small pieces.
4. Chop the onion and potatoes and mix with the meat. Add the seasonings and gravy and mix well.
5. Roll out the pastry and cut with a plain cutter or plate about 6 inches in diameter.
6. Divide mixture equally between the rounds, moisten the pastry, and bring the edges up to meet in the center. Press well together and flute with the fingers.
7. Glaze with egg or milk, place on baking tray and bake near the middle of the oven for about 30 minutes.
